I must return to work in the morning after what may have been the finest vacation I've ever taken! It all started last Friday when we drove to Chicago to stay with Billy and Stacy and my new fan club, Elena, Riley, and Carter, during marathon weekend. We went downtown Saturday for some great sightseeing and a really good lunch.
On Sunday Sonya, Billy, Grant ,and I rode the train downtown for the marathon. It wasn't my best race, 4:24, but it was surely the most fun and inspiring race I've ever been in.
When we returned after the race, I was really touched by the wonderful banner Elena, Riley and Carter made for me to help celebrate finishing the marathon. What a great bunch of kids! We all had such a good time with the Burgoons. Thanks for everything!
When we returned to Baltimore we caught our breath for a day and then Sonya and I took off for the hocking hills. We stayed in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere for 2 days. It rained a lot and was cold but we didn't really seem to notice. We still got in plenty of hiking and the hot tub was terrific!Sonya and I went down to Athens before returning home Friday to have lunch with Dustin and Aaron. The college boys are doing fine.
To top off my vacation, Grant and I went the columbus marathon today to volunteer at a water station. It was fun being at a race and seeing the spectator side of things.
All in all, a pretty darned good week!!!
