As I was approaching mile 2 in this morning's race, a man running barefoot passed me. I've read about people running barefoot but I had never actually seen anyone doing it. Sure looked painful to a guy who can't walk two steps on a gravel driveway.
Anyway, I tell you that to tell you this. At the Baltimore 5k the organizers have door prizes for everyone that runs in the race. Nice! They draw your name and you go up and select from an array of prizes spread out on the prize table. So...when the shoeless runner's name was called, he went up to the table and after a few moments perusing came away with a pair of running socks!...Maybe he wasn't a barefoot runner by choice.
